“I want to be very clear,” the President of the Government stated this Friday upon his arrival at the EU/Western Balkans summit held in Tivat (Montenegro). “I have never known, nor have I ever been informed, about the escapades of Leire Díaz,” he emphasized. “And if it hasn’t been done, it’s precisely because I would never have tolerated them,” he conveyed in an “absolutely emphatic” manner.

In the midst of a political and judicial storm, the head of the Executive has assured that he feels honored to lead the PSOE, a party which he stressed has always acted “forcefully,” and that it did so against José Luis Ábalos, Santos Cerdán, or Leire Díez herself, in the face of “mere indications” of irregular behavior. “We will not allow, and I will not allow it, from the point of view of the Government and also the PSOE, that the petty corruption of a few and the self-serving noise of many, of a disruptive opposition that has nothing else to offer citizens but maneuvers, noise, and insidiousness, to cover up and challenge a political project that is bringing prosperity, economic growth, job creation, and social progress, safeguarding rights and freedoms against the advance of the far-right, and being an international benchmark.”
