President Pedro Sánchez has brought to the 41st Annual Meeting of the Cercle d’Economia the commitment to begin processing the 2027 State budgets in the coming days. “We will start processing them this very week” with the approval of the ministerial order that activates the entire machinery, he announced.

Sánchez has assured that he trusts that when the European courts validate the amnesty law, the legislature can be completed with budgets referring to Junts’ support for the accounts. Sánchez asks his partners for “generosity and responsibility”: “the effort is worth it”
If the public accounts are successfully passed, they would be the first in the legislature. Although briefly, the president has given some details about what the orientation would be. Sánchez has pointed out that “we will take them to Parliament as soon as possible.”
The schedule consists of publishing the drafting order in the BOE this very week. And, throughout this month, the council of ministers will update the macroeconomic framework.
In the discussion with the president of the Cercle, Teresa Garcia-Milà, he reflected that the PP now does recognize Junts as a “political actor” and it is thanks to the amnesty. “The pardons and measures of grace allow something that some of the main analysts of La Vanguardia said as ‘we are all here now’.”
In response to questions from the Cercle, the president announced an immigration integration plan. Sánchez vehemently defended the process of regularizing immigrants.
Sánchez drew on the “agenda of the meeting” to highlight that thanks to the amnesty and other measures, Catalonia is in a better position than years ago.

Garcia-Milà also took advantage of her speech to call for changes in housing policy: “price control, although well-intentioned, is not a good idea because it can moderate in the short term but restricts supply. It is a regressive measure.” In the opinion of the institution’s president, the supply of land should be increased and a framework that guarantees legal certainty should be available.” She also called for a financing system.

“I do not come to ask for favors, nor to give them,” he asserted during his speech before adding that “I am not looking for shortcuts” regarding a possible instrumental motion of no confidence to facilitate the calling of general elections. Upon leaving the event and asked by journalists about Junts’ recommendation that he go to Waterloo to present the motion of no confidence proposal to Puigdemont, he replied with a laconic “let’s talk about serious things.”
