The case against Vito Quiles for assaulting the president’s wife, Begoña Gómez, has been dismissed as it could not be proven that there were “facts of criminal relevance” in the recordings that the far-right agitator shared on his social networks.
According to the ruling, which elDiario.es has been able to advance, the recordings submitted to the court do not prove that there was a “shoving” or that “he surrounded the complainant with his arm.” The decision, which is provisional and subject to appeal, states that “the accused enters a public place, with the clear intention of addressing the complainant, directing many questions without waiting for answers, but the complainant immediately leaves the premises, and it is Mrs. Blanca María who moves the accused away.”
The court also does not find injuries on one of Begoña Gómez’s companions, and states that “there is a struggle” between both, while it is the complainant who claims to have suffered injuries while trying to help her friend leave the premises.
