The arrest of Jonathan Andic, firstborn of Isak Andic, the owner of Mango who died in December 2024 after falling off a cliff in the Montserrat mountain, has created a lot of expectation, especially after the judge in the case charged him with an alleged homicide and released him on bail of one million euros. The judge’s order provides evidence pointing to the detainee as the author of his father’s death while they were hiking in the mountains.

What will happen from now on? What steps will the case follow? Mayka Navarro, crime reporter for La Vanguardia and author of the scoop on Jonathan Andic’s arrest, answers these questions in the video preceding this text. In conversation with Enric Sierra, deputy director of the newspaper, Navarro explains that the next thing we will see in this case is the submission of a counter-report by the defense of the accused, which will try to dismantle the evidence collected by the Mossos d’Esquadra.
Mayka Navarro explains that the police investigation lasted 14 months, during which Andic’s defense has also been preparing evidence to prove that the accused’s version is true and that Isak Andic’s death was an accident. The defense’s technicians have carried out “countless reconstructions of the events with specialist technicians. They recreated the scene with cameras brought from the United States that record with 3D drones and also used dummys (mannequins) like those used by car brands to simulate accidents,” Navarro recounts in the video preceding this text.

For their part, both the magistrate and the prosecutor in the case will have to assess whether everything the defense presents is enough to avoid trial. However, Mayka Navarro believes it “will be difficult” for Andic to avoid that judicial ordeal. The judge states in her indictment order that Jonathan Andic’s alleged act to end his father’s life was “premeditated and prepared.” In Navarro’s opinion, if the evidence ultimately confirms this, the classification of the facts would change from homicide to murder.
