“Mrs. Ayuso continues to fail to fulfill her obligation, we still do not know how much the trips cost or who pays for them,” Espinar stated at the press conference following the Board of Spokespersons, explaining that the PSOE has been “monitoring” the allowances and protocol and travel expenses of Díaz Ayuso published on the transparency portal, which have not been updated since March 31.
“Expenses must be published”
The socialist deputy stated that the Madrid president “has a problem” because, in her words, “she confuses transparency with invisibility,” and reminded her that expenses must be published and justified.
“There are very few exceptions where it can be justified that a private entity pays for a trip for a public official,” Espinar warned. “If Ayuso maintains that these trips are being paid for by a third party, she has to say who, she has to say for what, and she has to say in exchange for what,” she emphasized.

In that regard, she highlighted that the boundary between an institutional trip and gifting a trip “is very blurred,” and showed the “legal doubts” that the situation is beginning to raise for the PSOE.
