Artist Lorenzo Quinn announced this Thursday in Castelldefels during the presentation of one of his sculptural installations a new project that will also be installed in the town: the sculptural ensemble Gloria, which will recreate an iconic image of Ronaldinho and Messi, closely linked to the city, resulting from the Argentine star’s first official goal with the first blaugrana team.

The image took place on May 1, 2005, when a 17-year-old Messi came onto the field in the 88th minute of the 34th league matchday against Albacete to score the 2-0 with an assist from the Brazilian star. The goal made him at that moment the youngest player to score a goal in La Liga. In addition, he achieved it in just three minutes on the field.

The work will be installed in the area known as the ‘Walk of Fame’ of Castelldefels, a section of the pedestrian area of the Marítim promenade, next to Les Palmeres square, where the city council has installed tiles in tribute to FC Barcelona, Ronaldinho himself, and the Spanish nationalist Dani Jarque. This Thursday, Lorenzo Quinn also received his star. All those recognized have a close relationship with the city.

The sculptor has signed an agreement with the City Council and already has three works in the municipality. The first, Give and Receive, also located on the Marítim promenade, has already become an emblem of Castelldefels, as Gloria promises to be, which like the first will be municipal property. The agreement will result in the city exhibiting between eight and 12 works in public spaces.
