A man of British nationality residing in the Las Colinas urbanization in the municipality of Olivella (Garraf) is the fatal victim after the downpour that fell last night and early morning in Barcelona and its metropolitan area.

According to the mayor of Olivella, Marta Verdejo, and the Mossos d’Esquadra, the video images show the moment when the victim’s vehicle approaches the Begues stream and is swallowed by the force of the water.
The driver, who was traveling alone, was caught by the force of the water near a bridge, and the vehicle ended up dragged by the current.

A witness alerted at 23:02 after seeing a vehicle fall into the water, which activated a special device of the Bombers de la Generalitat for its location. Eleven units participated in the rescue efforts, supported by drones and agents specialized in aquatic and underwater interventions from the Grup d’Actuacions Especials (GRAE).
The Mossos d’Esquadra confirmed that, around 2:25 a.m., the lifeless body of the driver was found among bushes, about 500 meters from the point where the car had been dragged by the current, in an easily accessible area. The corpse was identified as that of the vehicle’s driver, and the incident was communicated to his wife.
