International sport climbing has reached a new age milestone. The Chilean athlete Leo Cea, only 13 years old, has managed to complete the route ‘No Pain No Gain’, located in the Ventanas sector of Rodellar (Huesca), thus reaching grade 9a+. With this ascent, Cea establishes himself as the youngest climber in the world to surpass this level of technical difficulty, with no previous records of anyone his age in this category. This achievement confirms his exceptional career, which already stood out in the elite when he completed his first 9a in Chile at just 11 years old.

The success in Rodellar is the result of a demanding process of preparation and perseverance that began last June. The route, about 40 meters long, is characterized by crossing a large roof that requires combining endurance and extreme physical strength, especially in the complex exit section. After continuing his training in Germany during the summer, Cea returned to Spain at the end of August and adapted his schedule to the heat, achieving the final completion early in the morning on September 2nd on his first attempt of the day.
