The Municipal Transport Company of Madrid (EMT Madrid) will launch five special free bus services on the occasion of the Spanish Grand Prix of Formula 1, which will be held from September 11 to 13 at the Madring circuit, in the Ifema Madrid area. The opposition criticizes the measure because tickets to the event range from 300 to 1,300 euros, which means that visitors have a high purchasing power. And the buses will depart from neighborhoods on the outskirts.
In total, up to 49 buses will be available during the three days of the sporting event to connect different points of the city with the circuit area, with frequencies ranging from four to seven minutes, depending on the line.
The special free service MR1 –Metropolitano/Feria de Madrid (Madring South)-Valdebebas (Madring North)– will connect the area around the Metropolitano stadium with Valdebebas, stopping at Feria de Madrid. The service will operate with a frequency of five minutes and a fleet of up to 15 buses.
Different shuttles
The first departure will be at 7:30 a.m. from Metropolitano, on Arcentales Avenue (node 50009), and at 8:05 a.m. from Valdebebas, on Alejandro de la Sota Avenue (stop 51314). The last departures will be at 8:25 p.m. from Metropolitano and at 9 p.m. from Valdebebas.
It will have two intermediate stops, 51315 towards Metropolitano and 51313 towards Feria de Madrid-Valdebebas, both located on Vía de Dublín, at the corner with Turín Street.
The special service MR2 –Canillejas/Feria de Madrid (Madring South)– will connect Canillejas and Feria de Madrid without intermediate stops. It will have a frequency of seven minutes and a fleet of up to five buses.
The first departure will be at 7:30 a.m. from Canillejas, at the Canillejas intermodal area, between Alcalá Street and América Avenue (node 5714), and at 7:47 a.m. from Feria de Madrid, on Vía de Dublín, before the Hamburg roundabout (stop 51317). The last departures will be at 8:43 p.m. from Canillejas and at 9 p.m. from Feria de Madrid.

The special free service MR3 –Feria de Madrid (Madring South)/Valdebebas (Madring North)– will connect Feria de Madrid and Valdebebas without intermediate stops. The line will have a frequency of ten minutes from 6 to 8 a.m. and from 8:30 to 10 p.m., and four minutes between 8 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. The fleet will consist of up to nine buses.
The first departure will be at 6 a.m. from Feria de Madrid, on Vía de Dublín, next to the Hamburg roundabout (stop 51312) and at 6 a.m. from Valdebebas, on Alejandro de la Sota Avenue, next to the Antonio Perpiñá roundabout (node 51311). The last departures will be at 10 p.m. from both terminals, Feria de Madrid and Valdebebas.
The special free service MR4 –Plaza de Castilla/Valdebebas (Madring North)– will connect Plaza de Castilla and Valdebebas without intermediate stops. The service will have a frequency of seven minutes and a fleet of up to ten buses.
The first departure will be at 7:30 a.m. from Plaza de Castilla, s/n, next to the José Calvo Sotelo monument (stop 4855) and at 8:05 a.m. from Valdebebas, on Fuerzas Armadas Avenue, next to the Isidro González Velázquez roundabout (node 4387). The last departures will be at 8:25 p.m. from Plaza de Castilla and at 9 p.m. from Valdebebas.
Finally, the special free service MR5 –Feria de Madrid (Madring South)/Avenida de América– will connect Feria de Madrid with Avenida de América, without intermediate stops and only in the direction of Avenida de América, to facilitate the exit of spectators from the Spanish Grand Prix of Formula 1. The service will have a frequency of seven minutes and a fleet of up to ten buses.

It will operate in the afternoon and the first departure will be at 5 p.m. from Feria de Madrid, on Vía de Dublín, at Doce Estrellas (stop 51316), with the end of the route at node 1280, located at Avenida de América, 3, with Francisco Silvela Street.
