Swimsuits, towels, and flip-flops face their final call at Madrid’s summer pools, which will close their doors on Sunday after a season marked by dips under the high summer temperatures in the capital.

During this last weekend, the weather will favor those who want to make the most of the last hours by the water. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts highs of 38ºC this Saturday and 36ºC on Sunday for the capital, with lows of 25º and 24ºC, respectively, and a low chance of rain.
Heat for the closing
Heat, therefore, will continue to be the protagonist in the farewell until next summer, although with somewhat less extreme values than those recorded this Friday. The forecast indicates that temperatures could reach 37ºC again on Monday and 35ºC on Tuesday, before a more marked drop on Wednesday, when the high would be around 28ºC.
In this scenario, the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, was asked this Friday about the possibility of extending the opening of municipal pools due to the persistence of the heat.

The Community’s pools also close
Similarly, the summer pools managed by the Community of Madrid will also close their season this Sunday, so it will be time to put away floaties and armbands at Puerta de Hierro, San Vicente de Paúl, Canal de Isabel II, and M86, although with still fully summery temperatures.
