The hotels of Madrid open up, once again this spring, for Madrilenians to enjoy their outdoor spaces. The eighth edition of Madrid a Cielo Abierto encourages, with varied plans and initiatives, the visit to establishments theoretically reserved for tourists.

Nearly sixty plans turn the capital’s hotels into the best setting for good weather. From May 1 to 10, terraces, rooftops, patios, and gardens become, for the eighth consecutive year, the stage for a broad and diverse program that invites you to enjoy the city from another point of view.
“The hotel is much more than accommodation: it is city. Madrid A Cielo Abierto always puts that idea front and center and opens our most iconic spaces as a natural part of Madrid’s daily life,” said the president of AEHM, Gabriel García Alonso.
Gastronomic plans
- Playing with the classics. Among the gastronomic proposals is the reinterpretation of the traditional calamari sandwich, in a contemporary key: from the reinvention of the sandwich with lemon peel aioli at Hotel InterContinental to the mini marinated calamari brioche at The Principal Madrid.
- Simple and maritime bites. This bite route includes maritime nods such as fresh oysters at Hotel Pestana CR7 Gran Vía and simple, perfect-to-share ideas like the classic potato omelette and croquettes at SmartRental Collection Gran Vía Capital.
- World tour. For those who prefer to travel without leaving Madrid, Hotel Meliá Barajas offers an outdoor Mexican pairing with cocktails inspired by the essence of the North American country. In a more traditional or terrace style, proposals include vermouth at Hotel Ópera and Rosewood Villa Magna, tapas at heights at H10 Tribeca, terrace time at Pestana Plaza Mayor Madrid, and a cheese board with a drink at SmartRental Collection Gran Vía Centric. The tapas with views at Hotel Índigo Madrid expand with options designed for those who prefer a well-resolved midday plan, such as the executive menu at Relais & Châteaux Orfila.
- Brunch as the main attraction: Four Seasons Hotel Madrid turns Sunday into a plan in itself with its brunch, and other hotels offer experiences combining gastronomy and views to start the day in the best mood, such as the 360º brunch at Riu Plaza España, brunch at El Jardín de Diana at Hyatt Centric Gran Vía Madrid, or The Upper Brunch on the rooftop of NH Collection Madrid Suecia. Ideas like The Weekend Brunch: Vermut Edition at Only You Hotel Atocha and Índiy Brunch by Inhala at Inhala Hotel Garden also join, two plans designed to extend the morning with bites, views, and the relaxed rhythm of Sunday.
- “Brinner”: when appetite changes time. Because in Madrid the hours are elastic, this edition includes plans that break the traditional brunch script. Hospes Puerta de Alcalá offers a “Brunch in the Night,” a brunch experience in a nighttime atmosphere ideal for those who prefer to start the night “as if it were midday.” Along the same lines, H10 Puerta de Alcalá adds brinner options (that midpoint between brunch and dinner) with ideas that make the afternoon the star moment, such as its “Brinner-Madrid al despertar.”

Pools, wellness, and activities to slow down
- “Madrid a cielo abierto” is also an invitation to pause. Among the most desired proposals is the experience at The Spa in Four Seasons Hotel Madrid, with an indoor pool and a bright terrace to complete the disconnection. And for those looking for an urban dip without leaving the center, UMusic Hotel Madrid offers its Splash Pass: the perfect pass to enjoy the pool and treat yourself to a day escape, with the skyline just steps away. Along this line are plans combining water, views, and disconnection, such as the day pass with pool and brunch at Akeah Gran Vía, the Italian aperitif proposal on the terrace of Barceló Emperatriz, or the Bali Experience (with pool access) at Hotel Palacio de los Duques Gran Meliá, as well as wellness options like VIP Blissfull Experience at VP Plaza España.
Music, late afternoons, and experiences at sunset
- Hard Rock Hotel Madrid joins with a musical cocktail workshop that turns the terrace into a sensory experience, and Generator Madrid Hostel offers a barbecue with live DJ music, perfect for living the afternoon as if it were a miniature festival.
- There are also plans designed to extend afterwork and sunset with views, such as the late afternoons at Hotel Fénix Gran Meliá, dinners with sunsets at Hotel Emperador, or the terrace opening with late afternoons and themed nights at Madrid Marriott Auditorium Hotel & Conference Center. To this map are added proposals that make the golden hour the star moment: CoolRooms Atocha invites you to a sunset with live jazz and cocktail-dinner, and Bless Hotel Madrid elevates the plan with its Grill & Sunset Fridays, where the afternoon extends between grill, atmosphere, and skyline.
- Cocktail culture also sneaks into this chapter: Hotel Urban 5 GL* offers its Paper Plane cocktail as the perfect excuse to savor the day outdoors, Novotel Madrid Center adds its signature cocktail with tapa for those looking for a plan that “if it’s not upstairs, it’s not a plan,” and The Madrid Edition proposes closing the day with its best drink at Oroya.
Unique ideas to experience Madrid from another perspective
- “Madrid a cielo abierto” also reserves plans for those looking to break the script and discover the city from unexpected angles. There are activities inviting you to start the day calmly in a historic and green environment — such as outdoor breakfasts at Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid; others experienced in an urban and active key, like a functional training session at The Central House; and creative experiences mixing nature and gastronomy, such as the kokedama workshop at H10 Puerta de Alcalá. Hotel Único also contributes its traditional nod reinterpreted with “El Madrid más Único.”
- Cocktail culture also sneaks into this chapter of different experiences: Hotel Urban 5* GL offers its Paper Plane cocktail as the perfect excuse to extend the afternoon outdoors, and Hotel Zentral suggests a traditional bite with a drink to savor Madrid with simplicity and good product.
The initiative is supported by the Directorate General of Commerce and Hospitality of the Government Area of Economy, Innovation, and Finance of the Madrid City Council. Its director general, Olga María Ruiz Castillo, who spoke at the presentation event, highlighted “the authenticity, calm, attention to detail, respect for time, and sustainability” typical of Madrid’s hotels and advocated “valuing our craftsmanship, our closeness, and our local product.”
With this new edition, “Madrid a cielo abierto” consolidates the role of Madrid’s hotels as spaces integrated into city life, which energize its urban fabric and offer diverse experiences inviting you to live Madrid with every plan, from the everyday to the surprising and unexpected.
