Meanwhile, the Fabra Observatory in the Catalan capital measured its first sultry night (that is, minimum temperatures above 25 degrees) in a September month from Friday night to Saturday morning. In fact, at eleven o’clock at night, temperatures still exceeded 30 degrees in points of the Alt Empordà, Ribera d’Ebre, and Segrià regions. Meteocat has issued an orange alert for the Priorat, Ribera d’Ebre, and Baix Ebre regions, where temperatures will approach 40 ºC.

In the pre-coastal and central depression of Catalonia, 40 ºC can be reached this Sunday, as well as in the Pyrenees of Lleida and Girona, according to Aemet.
Civil Protection of the Generalitat activated the alert on Friday for an intense heat episode, in effect this weekend, when historic temperatures are expected in a September month.
Throughout Spain, meteorological conditions also increase the risk of fires, which will be very high (orange) or extreme (red) in large areas, especially in the north, center, and east of the Peninsula, so Aemet, through its social networks, asks to take extreme precautions.
The Minister of the Interior, Núria Parlon, has asked citizens to be extremely cautious in the face of high temperatures and the high risk of forest fire, especially when accessing or moving through natural areas. Parlon has explained that Catalonia is in a double alert situation, with Procicat activated due to high temperatures and the Infocat plan in alert phase due to fire risk.
