After more than a week in which a long line, with hundreds of people, waited their turn to occupy a bed, the parking lot doors opened this Monday to accommodate more immigrants, causing a huge commotion in the area.

The National Police, with dozens of riot officers deployed, tried to contain the immigrant riot with warning shots fired into the air, as hundreds of people crowded to avoid losing their turn to access the center where new places have been enabled.
Although the center’s doors have been closed again with metal fences, guarded by about twenty officers, dozens of Moroccans are resisting leaving the line. The Police are lifting them in small groups to prevent the situation from getting out of control. The vast majority are not resisting. The migrants are gathering near the parking lot, while residents watch as they disperse again through their streets.

According to ministerial sources, the military tents have 1,200 beds, which will be occupied by Moroccan citizens. In another center, in Loma Margarita, 1,300 places have been enabled for sub-Saharan Africans. In total, this morning the President of the Government raised the figure to 3,300, although not all are occupied yet.
According to Pedro Sánchez in an interview on La Ser, there are 1,500 people left in Ceuta who entered the autonomous city irregularly on July 31, of whom 1,200 are minors. The president stated that most of the migrants still in Ceuta entered for economic reasons, so he predicted they will be returned to Morocco, as they do not meet the criteria to apply for asylum.
