The Valencian Community experienced a historic night this Thursday in which the Alicante town of Dénia recorded 39º and more than 90 municipalities exceeded 35.

According to the Valencian Meteorological Association (Avamet) on ‘X’, at 00 hours this Thursday values above 35º were recorded in more than 90 Valencian localities. It was a night that “will go down in the history of Valencian meteorology,” as the ‘ponentà’ was “dantesque,” they assert.
Localities such as Gandia, Oliva, Cullera, Pego, Pedreger, Favara, Corbera, Orba, and Sagra were above 37 degrees, as well as in València, Quart de Poblet, Picanya, Tavernes de la Valldigna, Parcent, Redován, Benirredrà, or la Vilavella.
The west wind gained strength as the hours passed in the Plana Baixa and in Nules, which at 01:16 hours recorded a temperature of 37.3 degrees, the highest recorded in the municipality in 2026. Also, thermometers reached 38 at that time in la Vilavella, 37 in Betxí and in La Vall d’Uixò, and 36 were recorded in the south of the Onda area.
In an unprecedented night, according to Avamet, 677 stations of its network (77%) did not drop below 25 ºC and 130 measuring places did not fall below 30 ºC.

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) pointed out this Wednesday that practically along the entire coast of Valencia, northern Alicante, and southern Castellón, the wind shifted to the west in the last minutes of the afternoon, causing the temperature to rise above 35° and humidity to drop below 30 percent.
And, with records from this Thursday updated at 8 a.m., in Xàtiva the mercury registered 33º; in València 31; Oliva 31; Miramar 30.5; in Castelló de la Plana 29.6; Alicante 28.6; Xàbia, 28 and Llíria, also 28.
It is worth remembering that yesterday Wednesday València recorded 42.8°C, the fourth highest value since Aemet observations began in 1869.
