The National Geographic Institute (IGN) has recorded six earthquakes of different intensities since midnight this Wednesday in Granada and its metropolitan area, five of them felt by the residents and added to the magnitude 3.4 earthquake that closed Tuesday.

This agency, dependent on the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, has detected six tremors during this Wednesday, the highest of magnitude 2.58; almost all have been perceived by the population.
After the 3.4 earthquake with an epicenter at 0 kilometers depth in Ogíjares recorded at 22:35 on Tuesday, the southern slope of the Vega de Granada felt two tremors of 1.7 and 1.8 recorded in La Zubia and Las Gabias at 1:45 and 2:34 hours. According to the IGN, these have been felt by the residents, who have reported it even from the coast.
The early morning passed with another four earthquakes with epicenters in Otura, Alhendín, Ogíjares, and Gójar, ranging from 1.6 to 2.5, recorded between 4:07 and 5:43 hours, when the highest intensity earthquake of this Wednesday start took place.
During Tuesday night, the National Geographic Institute (IGN) recorded a 3.4 magnitude earthquake with an epicenter in Ogíjares (Granada), a tremor felt by the population that adds to another half a hundred earthquakes recorded in the Granada metropolitan area.
Although initially its intensity was set at 3.3 and the epicenter in Alhendín, it was modified to 3.4 with an epicenter at 0 kilometers depth and in Ogíjares.

These two tremors add to the 4.8 magnitude earthquake recorded at 10:37 on Tuesday, which had its epicenter in Otura and was felt in the four provinces of eastern Andalusia.

Granada’s seismic activity on Tuesday was followed by several aftershocks and caused three minor injuries and numerous reports of cracks, landslides, and damage. Experts warn that the seismic series remains active and new movements may occur.

The Alhambra reopens to the public this Wednesday with its usual route except for the passage through the Alcazaba and with the itineraries through the Nasrid Palaces and the Generalife adapted to guarantee visitor safety.
The Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife has informed in a statement that the monumental complex, historically the most visited in the country, reopens this Wednesday to the public, although the Alcazaba will remain closed until further notice. The visiting hours will be the usual, from 8:30 to 20:00.
To guarantee visitor safety against possible seismic aftershocks, adapted routes have been established that facilitate quick evacuation if necessary.
In the Nasrid Palaces, the itinerary will be as follows: Mexuar, Golden Courtyard, Courtyard of the Myrtles, access through the entrance adapted for people with reduced mobility, Hall of the Two Sisters, Hall of the Kings and Abencerrajes, with exit towards the surroundings of the Courtyard of the Lions and evacuation through the Prince’s Gate.
In the Generalife, the route will include the ascent via the Paseo de las Adelfas, South Pavilion, North Pavilion, Courtyard of the Sultana, Upper Gardens, and exit again through the Paseo de las Adelfas.
The management team of the Patronato remains permanently convened to evaluate the evolution of the situation and adopt the necessary measures at all times, always according to the highest safety standards.
This Wednesday’s opening comes after the monument’s management decided yesterday to evacuate part of the facilities for safety reasons due to the seismic series marked by a 4.8 magnitude earthquake.
