The forest fire in Las Peñas de Riglos (Huesca) has forced the evacuation of the towns of Anzánigo and Atarés. Railway traffic between Ayerbe and Sabiñánigo has also been temporarily suspended, the Government of Aragón reported this Friday.
The Infoar Service of the regional government has sent an ES-ALERT for the evacuation of Anzánigo. The 36 residents have been moved to the sports pavilion in Ayerbe. Eight residents still remained in Atarés.
Evacuated nuclei
The other residents of this town, which belongs to the Jaca City Council, had already left their place of residence due to the fire, the same sources indicated.
With this evacuation, the evacuated nuclei are: Villalangua, Salinas de Jaca, Ena, Centenero, Santa María de la Peña, Triste, La Peña Estación, Yeste, Bailo, Larués, Arbués, Alastuey, Botaya, Osia, Santa Cruz de la Serós, Binacua, Anzánigo and Atarés, as well as Camping Pirineos.

The total number of evacuated people amounts to 891, including the 100 occupants of Camping Pirineos. The towns of Santa Cilia, Puente la Reina de Jaca, and Bernués remain on pre-alert, the same sources reported.
The Royal Monastery of San Juan de la Peña, in the municipality of Jaca, is also surrounded by the flames of the fire. The site, key in the origin of Aragón, houses the Royal Pantheon with the tombs of the first monarchs of the old Kingdom of Aragón and was the home of the Holy Grail for three centuries.
The situation of the fire was so complicated that it forced the Government of Aragón to call on the Military Emergency Unit (UME) and the Civil Guard to rescue the remains of the first Aragonese kings and the royal lineage, as well as other works of art, due to the proximity of the flames, which have been deposited in the Museum of Huesca.
