Lightning operation by Ronald Araújo. The Uruguayan central defender of FC Barcelona will play one season on loan at Liverpool after an agreement reached between both clubs on Friday night. The deal has been approved by the Barcelona sporting director, Deco, and was revealed by the market specialist journalist Fabrizio Romano. Pending official confirmation, the Anfield team has reached a verbal agreement with Barcelona and the player and will take on the entirety of the Uruguayan central defender’s salary and reserves a purchase option for the end of the season.

The central defender has a contract until 2031 and his intention is to say goodbye to his teammates on Saturday morning before the team travels to Udine to play a triangular tournament against Udinese and Nottingham Forest. A few days ago Araújo had a conversation with Hansi Flick in which the German coach confirmed that as a starting point his role in the team would be similar to last season, in which after returning from his mental health problems he had little prominence in the team. This season he also started behind Cubarsí, Gerard Martín, and Eric Garcia. Additionally, Flick also counts on the renewed and recovered Christensen.

In principle Araújo should travel to England this very weekend.
