Morocco, through the official news agency, made public this Wednesday the congratulatory message that the King sent to his Moroccan counterpart, Mohamed VI, on the celebration of Throne Day which was commemorated last July 30, a holiday that coincided with the day of the massive entries of migrants into Ceuta.

La Zarzuela has reported that the congratulation to Heads of State, including the King of Morocco, on the national days of their countries or on various anniversaries, is a procedure carried out at the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is processed in advance so that the corresponding embassy can handle it on the designated date of the festivity.
In this case, the message signed by Felipe VI and sent prior to July 30, was motivated by Mohamed’s 27th anniversary on the throne and is practically the same as those sent on previous occasions. Morocco has now displayed it, days after having received it, in an attempt to involve the King because at no time does it indicate that the message, strictly protocolary, arrived at the Alaouite court before the events in Ceuta that caused the massive entry of tens of thousands of Moroccan migrants.

According to the Moroccan News Agency (MAP), cited by Europa Press, the King of Morocco “received a congratulatory message, on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of his accession to the throne, in which Felipe VI expressed “in his own name and on behalf of the Government and the Spanish people,” his “warmest congratulations and best wishes of happiness and health to his brother” Mohamed VI. He also wished “prosperity and well-being to the Moroccan people.”
In the congratulatory message, according to the Moroccan agency, Felipe VI took advantage of this “special occasion” to reiterate “the feelings of affection he feels” for Mohamed VI and “his confidence that the close ties of brotherhood, friendship and cooperation that unite these two brotherly peoples will continue” to be consolidated.
