The forest fire in Orés, in the Cinco Villas region of Zaragoza, remains active and, although efforts intensified overnight, the flames have nearly doubled the affected hectares, increasing from 7,600 last night to 12,000, according to initial estimates this Friday.

According to the forest fire prevention and extinction unit of the Government of Aragón, last night it was necessary to protect the towns of Malpica de Arba and Uncastillo as the flames reached both villages.

The residents of these two towns and those of Orés, Asín, and Luesia, about 700 people, remain evacuated and, after a night of intensified ground work to extinguish the fire, this morning there will be a shift change for these brigades and aerial resources will join the efforts.

The operational level 2 situation of the Special Civil Protection Plan for Forest Fires (PROCINFO) is currently activated, and throughout the morning new resources are expected to join the extinction efforts and aerial means will begin working.
The Vice President of the Government and Minister for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Sara Aagesen, will visit the advanced command post located in Farasdués (Zaragoza) this Friday to assess the situation of this fire, as will the President of Aragón, Jorge Azcón.
