Four men have been taken to the University Hospital of Navarra (HUN) after the seventh running of the San Fermín, featuring bulls from the Miura ranch, none due to horn injuries. Two of those taken have cranial contusions, another has a contusion with deformity in the right arm, and a fourth evacuated has a contusion on the face and contusion on the back, according to medical services.

Additionally, a man with a maxillofacial contusion has been taken to the Doctor San Martín center, and three other people are being treated in the Plaza de Toros: one man with a hand contusion, another with a head wound, and a third with a contusion with deformity in the left arm.

The initial frantic pace caused numerous falls, although fewer runners were noted

The race, which lasted 2 minutes and 34 seconds, started promptly at 8 a.m. on the penultimate day of the San Fermín, after the three chants in Santo Domingo. The herd left the pens grouped with a lead steer. They took this first stretch of the run like this, with the six ‘miuras’ very close together, leaving the rest of the steers behind.

The frantic pace of the race in these first meters caused numerous falls, although fewer runners were noted this Monday after a crowded weekend in Pamplona. The cattle crossed the Town Hall square and Mercaderes street at high speed, where one of the bulls fell but got up immediately and continued the race a few meters behind his brothers.

So united, the five bulls from the Seville ranch took the Mercaderes curve to head down Estafeta street at high speed, allowing for beautiful runs by the young men. Accompanied by a lead steer, they trotted through this stretch without losing pace, surrounded by dozens of runners trying to find a place near the horns.

With two bulls taking the lead in Estafeta, the cattle progressed with another ‘miura’ a few meters behind, allowing the runners to experience beautiful moments in front of the animals.

Maintaining speed, the bulls crossed the Telefónica area and the alley, where some tense moments occurred, with the bulls’ horns grazing several runners and numerous falls. At the entrance to the Plaza de Toros, a small pile-up occurred without major consequences.

All six Miura bulls together made a lap of the ring after not entering the pens initially. However, they entered the Plaza pens with the help of the dobladores, without causing major problems in the Pamplona arena, where there was a good number of runners.

The bulls will be fought this afternoon in the Plaza de Toros starting at 6:30 p.m. by the matadors Manuel Escribano, Pepe Moral, and Jesús Enrique Colombo.
