Six people have died and 30 have been injured this Sunday when a bus and a motorhome collided on a state road in the province of Rieti (Lazio region, central Italy), in an accident involving three other vehicles, local media report.

The accident occurred on state road 79 near the municipality of Colli sul Velino, on the border with the Umbria region, when a bus traveling towards Terni and a motorhome going in the opposite direction collided head-on, causing the involvement of other vehicles.
At the accident site, whose causes are still unknown, emergency services and firefighters are present and proceeded to evacuate the passengers of the bus and other vehicles.
The accident claimed the lives of the two bus drivers, two passengers, and two occupants of the motorhome, while another 30 people were injured, at least three of them seriously.

Several air ambulances were dispatched to the area to transfer the most seriously injured to hospitals in Umbria and Lazio, reports the newspaper Corriere della Sera.
The road has been closed to traffic to facilitate rescue operations, causing traffic jams.
