Behind this exhibition there is a proper name: Alfredo Calles, collector and devotee of Star Wars since the saga was called Star Wars. For years he has gathered one of the most complete private collections in Europe dedicated to this universe and now shares it with the public: until September 22, CASA CUPRA Raval hosts “Rebels Beyond the Galaxy,” a free admission exhibition that pays tribute to the icons, stories, and original objects that shaped one of the most influential sagas in film history.

Curated by Alfredo Calles himself under the concept “From a fan for fans,” the exhibition brings together an extraordinary selection of original pieces used in the filming, life-size figures, busts, dioramas, helmets, ships, and collectible objects that have turned this cinematic imaginary into a true cultural phenomenon.

A journey among original pieces of the saga
Among the most outstanding pieces are an original fragment of the Death Star used in the 1977 film, an original rebel soldier suit used in that same filming, and a production mask of an Ewok from Return of the Jedi, restored by the renowned specialist Tom Spina.
The exhibition also includes set pieces from Episode II, Attack of the Clones, as well as autographs from actors, crew members, and special effects specialists.

The tour proposes a journey through the galactic saga’s imaginary and highlights the legacy of a phenomenon that has awakened the creativity and imagination of millions of people worldwide. Born from the passion of its curator, who has dedicated years to gathering this collection with the purpose of sharing it, the experience is designed both for those who grew up with these stories and for new generations who want to discover this science fiction world.
Free and designed for all audiences, the exhibition is presented as a great summer plan in Barcelona for rebellious spirits, a proposal to enjoy with family, friends, or the little ones at home, while exploring a universe that has marked several generations.

A free film series in August
Additionally, as part of its summer programming, CASA CUPRA Raval once again brings back the CASA CUPRA Raval Film Selection, a special free film series that will fill the space’s auditorium during this August. On the four Tuesdays of the month, at 6 p.m., four films will be screened in their original version with Spanish subtitles.

The series will start on August 4 with the animated film Flow, continue on August 11 with One Battle After Another, proceed on August 18 with Hierve, and conclude on August 25 with Batman.
REV EL BAR, local product and recipes with their own personality
The experience is completed with REV EL BAR, CASA CUPRA Raval’s gastronomic proposal in collaboration with Grupo No Hay Mañana, which will remain open throughout August. Its cuisine reinterprets traditional flavors and local products from an urban and contemporary perspective, combining daily dishes and sharing proposals with recipes that have their own personality, such as the old cow burger with Raval sauce, Alfredo macaroni, or the DARK Combo, which includes a truffled bikini and a CUPRA Drink.

Its outdoor terrace is also established as one of the most vibrant meeting points in downtown Barcelona, the perfect place to enjoy a meal or a refreshing drink before or after visiting the exhibition.
The Festes de Gràcia arrive with two very special Raval Music Sessions
On the occasion of the Gràcia Festivals, CASA CUPRA Raval will also join the cultural programming of its neighborhood with two special proposals.
On August 17, at 7 p.m., the group Arrels de Gràcia, an artistic project born in the heart of Gràcia that fuses tradition, Catalan culture, and stage emotion in each performance, will offer a live show. On August 19, it will be DJ Dante Lucero’s turn, who will bring rhythm to the space with a DJ set to accompany the afternoon and join one of Barcelona’s most emblematic festivals. Resident of Oblicuo Hi-Fi Bar in the Gràcia neighborhood and leader of Diggers Collective, Lucero builds his sessions exclusively with vinyl.
