The Valencia Court authorizes footballer Rafa Mir, sentenced to eight and a half years in prison for sexual assault, to establish his residence in Greece, where he will play for a new club, Aris Thessaloniki, according to Las Provincias and confirmed to Europa Press by informed sources.

Thus, the Valencian court has granted Mir’s request, who currently had a contract with Sevilla, and who will have to go once a month to sign at the Spanish consulate in the Greek city, according to the same sources.
The Fourth Section of the Court sentenced the athlete to eight and a half years in prison for sexual assault and injuries to a young woman, considering it proven that Mir, a Valencia CF player at the time of the events, assaulted a young woman he had previously met in a venue in the capital, on the night of August 31, 2024, at the footballer’s own home in Bétera.
The court also sentenced a second defendant, also a footballer, to two and a half years in prison for sexual assault and injuries to another young woman, a friend of the former.

Last June, Rafa Mir stated via a video on his social networks that he was appealing, arguing that in the process “videos and other elements were presented that do not even appear in the sentence and deserve evaluation.”
“My defense will continue where it belongs, in the courts,” he emphasized in statements in which he thanked the support and respect of his family, friends, and all the people who have done so. “Now it is time to move forward, focus on my work, and wait for justice to take its course,” he concluded.
