The request comes after the Government declared a national interest emergency last night in the Community of Madrid and the province of Ávila “as a consequence of the evolution of the forest fires” located in the municipalities of Villa del Prado and San Martín de Valdeiglesias (Community of Madrid) and Burgohondo (Ávila). Nearly 11,500 people have been evacuated due to the complexity of the flames.

The emergency is the second in Spain after the one decreed between April 28 and 30, 2025, due to the power outage.

As a consequence of the declaration of national emergency, the Minister of the Interior assumes the direction and coordination of the necessary actions and the management of all state, regional, and local resources that must be used.
