The fire declared in Orés, which since Wednesday has struck the Zaragoza region of Cinco Villas and has burned 14,400 hectares, has been stabilized, according to the Vice President of the Government of Aragón, Mar Vaquero.

“According to the latest data from the extinguishing management, the fire has been stabilized; therefore, the most optimistic forecasts have been met,” Vaquero said in statements to the media from the advanced command post located in Farasdués (Zaragoza).
Almost 16,000 hectares affected, although the burned area amounts to 14,400
According to the vice president, the most favorable conditions recorded during the day allowed the stabilization of a fire whose perimeter reaches 78 kilometers and the affected area, 15,700 hectares.
However, “the area actually burned is reduced to 14,400 hectares,” Vaquero clarified, referring to images provided by the Sentinel satellite.

Given these circumstances, he indicated that now it remains to check the condition of the homes and infrastructures of the five evacuated municipalities (Orés, Asín, Malpica de Arba, Luesia, and Uncastillo) so that their residents can return to their homes, a decision that “can be made over the coming days.”
Vaquero also described as “important” that, of the nine municipalities that had been alerted in previous days, “none of them had to be evacuated.”
For all these reasons, the vice president highlighted that “finally much more favorable and optimistic information” can be provided.
