The Minister of Health files a lawsuit in the Supreme Court against Morant for accusing him of “profiting from the privatization of healthcare”

The Valencian Generalitat’s Health Minister, Marciano Gómez, has filed a lawsuit before the Supreme Court against the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities and general secretary of the PSPV, Diana Morant, for accusing him at an event of “profiting from the privatization of public healthcare,” according to sources familiar with the decision who confirmed this to Europa Press.

Gómez announced on April 2 that he intended to proceed with the lawsuit announced against Morant after the socialist leader and her legal representation did not attend a prior conciliation meeting in which he asked her to retract those statements, which she made at an event in February.

“In the Valencian Community, while healthcare is being cut, investment in private healthcare is doubling,” said Morant, who added that the Health Minister “is profiting from the privatization of healthcare, he always appears behind everything related to Ribera Salud.”

Gómez maintained that Morant acted as a “top-level political leader fully aware of the impact of her words” when she made these public statements at the Government Delegation headquarters, which were picked up “by numerous regional and national media outlets.” He also claimed that she posted these statements in a video on her X account @DianaMorantR, where she identifies herself as Minister of @CienciaGob.

For the defense of the minister – who requested compensation provisionally set at 30,000 euros for moral and institutional damages – these statements were made “with a clear intention of public dissemination,” reproduced by numerous media outlets and achieved “massive and sustained” impact.

At that time he already warned that the “unjustified” absence or the “lack of retraction” would be interpreted as confirmation of the accusations and would determine the exercise of criminal actions, which were finally formalized this Wednesday with the lawsuit filed before the Supreme Court, which is the competent body given Morant’s status as a member of the central government with parliamentary immunity.
