Six columns of teachers will converge in a gathering in front of the Conselleria on a key day

Six columns of teachers will converge this Monday with the purpose of showing the Ministry of Education the strength of the indefinite strike of Valencian teaching staff. On the sixth day of the strike and after the successful first week of protests – with the historic demonstration last Friday -, the unions have called up to six marches to pressure Carmen Ortí’s department on a day that is expected to be key to trying to bring positions closer.

The meeting between the unions and the Ministry is held at 16:00 hours and both the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, and the regional secretary of Education, Daniel McEvoy, have shown that the Council will improve the salary compensation proposal that disappeared from the negotiation table on Thursday. A strategy that further strained the spirits among the teaching staff.

Before this crucial meeting – many teachers are beginning to fear for the 150-200 euros they lose each passing day -, the unions have scheduled six columns that will collapse traffic in the Turia capital and converge at the time of the meeting at the Ministry.

The West column will depart from the Mislata Town Hall at 14:45, while the South one will do so from Bomber Ramon Duart Street (11:30). This one will pass through Russafa Street and Xàtiva Street. The fifth will depart from Patraix square (15:00 hours) and the last of the columns will depart from IES Cabanyal (14:30 hours) to pick up demonstrators from the Marítimo area.
