Rosalía's Berghain revolutionizes Spanish artistic swimming: This is the striking choreography

When Andrea Fuentes, coach of the Spanish artistic swimming team, heard Rosalía’s ‘Berghain’, she considered that her team’s new creative proposal should revolve around that piece to continue revolutionizing the world of artistic swimming. And she changed the initial plan. She discarded keeping the choreography that won two bronzes in 2025, at the European Artistic Swimming Championships in Funchal (Portugal) and at the Swimming World Championships in Singapore, to the rhythm of Lady Gaga’s ‘Abracadabra’ and created a new choreography. Spain will officially premiere its new routine in exactly two weeks at the 2026 Artistic Swimming World Cup in Pontevedra, which will be held from May 29 to 31.

It was after a morning training session at the CAR pool in Sant Cugat, when the coach, her voice still hoarse three weeks after attending Rosalía’s concert in Barcelona, as some of her swimmers did as explained by La Vanguardia, admitted that the emergence of ‘Berghain’ disrupted the path laid out towards the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

After listening to the song, Fuentes had a revelation and the next thing she did was write a message on her personal Instagram account. “Let no one dare to do it, because Spain will do it,” warned the Catalan coach, half-jokingly. “The truth is that this choreography has created an atmosphere of great excitement worldwide,” she emphasizes.

The Spanish team will premiere the acrobatic routine from May 29 to 31 in Pontevedra, at the fourth event of the World Cup, and tickets sold out in two minutes. In fact, according to Andrea Fuentes, this routine has “much more” technical difficulty and, if they manage to execute it, it will be “the highest ever done in history.”

‘Berghain’ will not be the first Rosalía song to inspire the Spanish team.

‘Berghain’ will not be the first Rosalía song to inspire the Spanish team. Iris Tió already used her version of ‘Me quedo contigo’ and will repeat with ‘Mio Cristo piange diamanti’, both in technical solo. They just need to meet the artist in person, as this newspaper explained.

The swimmers admit to having contacted her circle and Fuentes is convinced that the meeting will happen: “I will make it happen. I know she likes sports and art, why not? We are very excited. We have put our soul into this work. She will like it a lot. I will invite her, but we will have to wait until the tour ends,” the coach concluded in statements to the EFE Agency.
