The sample taken yesterday afternoon from the woman who is under monitoring in Alicante for having been a passenger on the plane in which a person died from Hantavirus is already at the National Center for Microbiology. This Saturday, the Ministry of Health of the Generalitat Valenciana reported that it sent the sample of the person who is hospitalized last night.

The same sources explain that the shipment was registered at the National Center for Microbiology at 3 a.m. and it is expected that the PCR results for Hantavirus will be available between 24 and 48 hours later.

The patient, 32 years old, is under monitoring for having been a passenger on the plane from which a person who later died was evacuated and after having traveled on the MV Hondius cruise ship.

According to the protocol established by the Ministry of Health, if the PCR is negative, it is repeated 24 hours after confirming the sample result. If the second PCR is also negative, the patient would be considered a contact in quarantine and would be transferred to the Central Defense Hospital Gómez Ulla in Madrid.

On the contrary, if the PCR is positive, the woman would be evacuated to the High-Level Isolation and Treatment Unit of the La Fe Hospital in Valencia.
