One day after the fight in the Real Madrid locker room between Tchouaméni and Valverde became public, which ended with the latter in the hospital with stitches and a recovery period of between 10 and 14 days, the club issued a statement this afternoon explaining the sanction.
Beyond the disciplinary file, they announced a historic punishment: half a million euros to each player. The French midfielder trained normally this Friday and could be called up for Sunday’s Clásico.
The Uruguayan’s wife posted a photo on social media of her husband smiling with their son.
The statement says the following:
Real Madrid C. F. announces that, following the events that led to the opening yesterday of a disciplinary file against our players Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni, both appeared today before the instructor of the file.
During this appearance, the players showed their total remorse for what happened and apologized to each other.
They also extended their apologies to the club, their teammates, the coaching staff, and the fans, and both have made themselves available to Real Madrid to accept the sanction the club deems appropriate.
Under these circumstances, Real Madrid has decided to impose a financial sanction of five hundred thousand euros on each player, thus concluding the corresponding internal procedures.
