The song Dai Dai, by Colombian singer Shakira and Nigerian artist Burna Boy will be the official song of the Football World Cup to be held between June and July in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The artist announced it this Thursday in a short video posted on her social media, informing that the song will be released on May 14.
In the video, recorded at the Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Shakira appears wearing a yellow shirt, blue shorts, and several balls along with a group of dancers while singing some fragments of Dai Dai.
The singer enters the Maracanã pitch carrying a ‘Trionda’ ball, the official ball of the upcoming World Cup, places it on the ground as if to make a move, and begins the choreography with her dancers, dressed in the colors of teams like Colombia, Argentina, and the United States.
“Oe, oe, oe,” the song begins, with a cheerful Caribbean rhythm and lyrics in English that refer to the belonging to a World Cup for everyone.
The scenery is completed with four balls from the Football World Cups of Germany 2006, South Africa 2010, and Brazil 2014, plus the ‘Trionda’ from this year’s edition. The video, one minute and seven seconds long, ends with the phrase “We Are Ready.”
This is the third time Shakira stars in a World Cup anthem. Waka Waka (This is Africa), by Shakira, was the anthem of the 2010 South Africa World Cup and four years later she repeated at the 2014 Brazil World Cup with La La La.
