The new Palau Blaugrana is excluded from the Espai Barça financing. Joan Laporta acknowledged for the first time during the Assembly that the 1.8 billion euros available to the club, the initial 1.5 billion plus the additional 300 million approved by the delegates, will be allocated to the Spotify Camp Nou and its adjacent facilities, but not to the construction of the pavilion. “The new Palau Blaugrana will not impact the financing of the Espai Barça,” explained the president.
Barça is now looking for a formula that allows building it without increasing debt. Ferran Olivé explained that one of the options is to resort to an investor who assumes the cost of the works in exchange for commercially exploiting the venue for about 50 years. Barça would retain ownership and sports use, while the investor would obtain income from concerts and other shows.
The works on the new pavilion will not begin until the stadium is completely finished
The project envisions a Palau with a capacity for about 12,000 spectators at matches and up to 20,000 at other events and shows. “The Palau will not give us profits,” admitted Olivé. The intention is to have a new facility without charging its cost to the club’s accounts.

In any case, the Palau will have to wait. The priority is to finish the Spotify Camp Nou and the works on the new pavilion will not begin until the stadium is completely finished.
