Supervised release with therapeutic treatment for two of the minors detained in Manresa

The High Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) announced today that the magistrate has imposed supervised release with therapeutic treatment for the two minors arrested yesterday for the violent death of a resident of Manresa in the early hours of last September 1, during the main festival of the capital of Bages. It should be remembered that the other two minors who were arrested last week, shortly after the commission of the homicide, have been serving a closed regime detention measure since they were arrested.

The Prosecutor’s Office had requested the detention of the two minors, both 16 years old, arrested yesterday, despite the fact that according to sources close to the investigation carried out by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Mossos d’Esquadra, their participation in the tragic event that has shocked the city of Manresa was not as direct as that of the two young people aged 15 and 16 arrested initially.

Since the death of Carles Vilajosana, various gatherings of different kinds have taken place in Manresa highlighting the impact this criminal act has had among the citizens of Manresa. On September 2, with the events still very recent, a gathering was held in memory of the victim and to denounce the insecurity situation that, according to some neighbors, is experienced in certain neighborhoods of the city, during which there were moments of some tension.

This afternoon, the city was once again the scene of a gathering called by Manresa diu prou, a group that defines itself as an “independent citizen movement with no ties to any political party.” More than a thousand people honored the memory of Carles Vilajosana and demanded more security and that the authorities listen “once and for all” to the citizens’ discontent. According to the protest organizers, “it is time for action, not excuses.”
