Three people were injured last night after a boat sank near the Formigues Islands, in the municipality of Palamós (Baix Empordà), according to reports from the Generalitat Firefighters and Maritime Rescue.

The incident was reported around 10:10 p.m. when a boat about 14 meters long with seven crew members on board hit some rocks in the freo area of the Formigues Islands.
The boat was almost sunk when emergency services arrived
Quickly, four firefighter units – including members of the underwater GRAE – and the Sirius vessel from Maritime Rescue were dispatched to the area. Upon arrival, the boat was practically sunk and the seven crew members were in a lifeboat. The affected were evacuated to the port of Palamós.
At the port, an ambulance from the Medical Emergency System (SEM) assisted the seven crew members, three of whom had injuries of varying severity (1 less serious and 2 minor).
