The president of the Generalitat Valenciana met this Sunday with some teachers at the pilgrimage of San Pascual Bailón in Monforte del Cid, Alicante, and there he spoke with them about the situation of public education. In the video he shared on the social network “X” Pérez Llorca is seen talking with a group of teachers, dressed in the green t-shirt that characterizes the teachers these days of indefinite strike. And in the message preceding the video, he insists on the idea of dialogue: “Talk and work. That is the best way to solve the education situation in the Valencian Community. Always willing to dialogue, because only by talking, listening, and working together can we move forward.”
In the shared audiovisual, Pérez Llorca assures that there are demands “that are fair” and that they must be “well planned to be carried out,” while noting that there is a part that is “very political,” in line with the position of the Department of Education and the Valencian government, which have labeled the strike as “political,” insisting on the idea that the Botànic government did not receive as much pressure from the education sector.
Likewise, in the video Llorca states that “it is true that the base salary is improvable,” but adds that the six-year increments they receive are the highest. Last week, when the councilor Carmen Ortí proposed the salary increase of 1,050 euros annually over three years for teachers, she already explained that they have one of the best-paid six-year increment systems in Spain. Regarding this, Education pointed out that this progressive supplement ranges from 128.37 euros monthly for those with a single six-year increment to 687.61 euros monthly for those who accumulate five.
The economic improvement proposal is one of the key aspects in the negotiation with the unions. After the last meeting on Thursday, where Education took the proposal off the table but specified that it remained in education, union representatives regretted the gesture and reiterated that they expected it to be on the table this Monday. “If not, don’t call us,” they basically said.
Education, for its part, said there will be an economic proposal this Monday, and the councilor committed to bringing a document “as complete as possible” to the meeting. Likewise, this Sunday, in an interview with Las Provincias, the regional secretary, Daniel McEvoy, also gave clues about the Department’s position regarding salary remuneration, assuring that the economic proposal “will not be an obstacle to ending the strike.”

Meeting in Picanya for the collective resignation of 1,200 management positions
Last Thursday, while the Department and the unions were meeting, more than 1,200 teachers holding management positions expressed their discontent and threatened collectively to present a resignation ‘Asturian style.’ They now announce a new meeting for tomorrow at noon, at the Picanya Cultural Center, where they will address the joint resignation threat.
Meanwhile, teachers face this Monday the second week of the indefinite strike, with an ambitious calendar of demands that will begin in the afternoon with a gathering at 4 p.m. at the Department while the meeting is held.
In parallel, the Coordinadora d’assemblees docents del País Valencià (CADPV) has created a resistance fund to financially support teachers facing the indefinite strike to “minimize the impact” and guarantee their stability over time. The funds raised will be collected by the Fundació Escola Valenciana in collaboration with the CADPV and may be allocated to those who have “actively” participated in the indefinite strike or have suffered repression during the process, “as a consequence of it or the actions in which they have participated.”
